Adventure Trips

My life has been one great adventure starting with joining the US Navy in January 1965.

Things I’ve done-

Scuba dive all over the world.

Early Canyoneering in Utah before there was much beta(knowledge of routes). Most of the time we had to be prepared for any obstacle. Favorite hard canyon is “The Squueze” on the Moroni slopes and favorite quick trip is “pine Creek” in Zions National Park.

Built up a jeep and accomplished most of the trails in Moab, UT. FYI: you always need to have a buddy with a jeep as you always break something on every trip. basically… moab is keep trying until you break something, then go home.

Private Pilot owning many airplanes from an aerobatic Pitts2b to a pressurized twin Cessna 340. 4000+ hours without a single emergency.

Rock climber, but never better than a 5.10 climber, really just enough to climb out of canyons.

I have backpacked throughout the Sierras, Marble Mountain and Trinity Alps wilderness areas and Utah’s Uintah mountains. Backpacking isn’t my favorite this as I never figured out how to load a pack less than 45#.

House boating on Lake Powell for twenty years. We saw the lake at full capacity to todays historical low capacity. waterskiing, wakeboarding, surfing and air chairing.

I visit most of the primitive hotsprings in the west.

Currently and for the last 10 years I have been a volunteer to RINS.ORG keeping track of raptors on Utah’s West Desert. The primary objective is to determine where nests are and how many fledglings survive. This project involves camping for a few days starting in February(Golden Eagles are on the nest by Valentines day) and ends as late as July as the Golden Eagles, Hawks, Falcons and Owls fledge by late June or early July.
